Stacking Your Slides From The Bottom UP.

We want to show you two different ways to get your slides stacked, organized and oriented correctly for scanning. This is a confusing subject for many people so we hope that this helps.

Our examples on this page will cover building your stack from the BOTTOM UP. You start with the very last slide in each "show" or "chapter" and build your stack up. The top slide will be the first slide in the "show" or "chapter".

Determine Front and Back Of Slides

We know this is a confusing part of your slide organization. We have been dealing with since 2002 and we keep trying to find a perfect way to help people get past this problem. For the sake of standardizing this, the side of the slide with the "LOGO" will be referred to as the "FRONT" of the slide. If you hold the slide up to the light and you can see a sign in the picture, the text will read "BACKWARDS". Now please don't get hung up on this. We are going to get your slide scans all reading correctly when you view them on your TV or computer or you make prints. It is just that we all have to be seeing things the same way. I can't tell you how many people do their organizing just the opposite of what we need. Don't over-think this. Just please give us what we need.

The person taking the picture may have turned the camera on it's side to take a "portrait" type picture. ALL of these "PORTRAIT" type slides need to be rotated, in the stacks, to be in the "LANDSCAPE" orientation. This will mean that ALL slides are in "Landscape" orientation regardless of how the picture was taken. Please don't worry about this. We are going to get your final scans to VIEW CORRECTLY. We just need these to be rotated so that they will scan correctly. We rotate the final image to view correctly. (Note: a portrait slide does not have to have a person in the picture. The term "portrait" simply refers to the camera being turned sideways when the picture was taken.

Waxed paper boxes, Aluminum Foil boxes, Plastic Baggie boxes, and many other types of boxes are the ideal size for keeping your slides organized, after stacking. If you use this method, you do not have to use rubber bands to separate your stacks or "shows" or "chapters". You can use a divider that is clearly marked. To assure proper order in your slide show, you should also NUMBER EACH SLIDE. The numbering for EACH CHAPTER should start from #1. In other words, chapter #1 might have 45 slides in it. The numbering would go from #1 to #45. Then in chapter #2, which has 32 slides, the numbering would start with #1 and go through #32. And so on.
